With love to my bike

Oh, how I have missed you...

I realize that I haven't been using you to your full capapcity as of late. I've had some physical impediments in the last year. Hopefully this summer you and I will be able to once again enjoy the thrill of a Birds Hill trail. I make you no promises. It may end up that you will be relegated to the duties of pulling a baby behind you down boring city roads.

At the very least, know that I love you and look forward to taking you on the Ingolf trail again. This time we take snacks.

Elijah - 6 months

Elijah reached 6 months last weekend. Here are a listing of his recent accomplishments:

1. He has two teeth.
2. He's eating solids (if that's what you call what he's doing in the picture).
3. He's crawling backwards.
4. He's the size of an average 9 month old (21 pounds, 29 inches)
5. He has two very proud parents.

Could he be any cuter?

Every time I look at this picture it makes me laugh.

I went to pick up the print of this picture at Walmart. The lady working there called her co-workers over to show them that this was the cute kid from the picture.

He's sure not starving is he?

First race of the season

This may come as a shock to some of you, but I enjoy watching Formula One racing. Now, let me clarify, I don't enjoy any other kind of automobile racing. (For the life of me I don't understand how NASCAR cars racing around an oval can be interesting, but I digress...)

Saturday night was the first race of the 2008 season. It was in Australia so it started at 11:00. This is way past my bedtime so you know I must enjoy it.

I started watching Formula One because a certain guy (who would later become my husband) was interested in it, and let's be honest, there are things you do when you're dating for no other reason than the opportunity to spend time with your significant other. Somewhere along the way I got hooked.

This was an exciting race. Only seven out of the 22 cars finished. My favorite driver, Kimi, went from 16th position to 2nd but ultimately didn't finish the race. He was World Champion last year. He doesn't do interviews well. When he wins a race he mumbles through pretty much everything that he says. He's Finnish and English isn't his first language so I guess he deserves a break. Having said that my favorite driver is Kimi, I'm kind of leaning towards Lewis Hamilton to win the Championship this year. He's a good kid from the UK and he had an amazing rookie year last year. I'm also interesting in Timo Glock this year for no other reason than he has an interesting name.

So, if you see my husband or me looking a little bit tired on the weekend, it could be that Elijah is teething, but more than likely, we were watching the race at all sorts of crazy hours of the night.

Elijah got his first...

tooth today.

After months of speculation, at last the long awaited tooth has surfaced. At 3:35 this afternoon I spotted a glimmer of white in his mouth. It actually surprised me because besides being a little bit extra cuddly this morning, he was his normal happy self all day.

Our little boy is growing up. Next thing you know he'll be taking Drivers Ed, practising on the One Ways of Winnipeg like his mama and his Taunte Peit. Okay, maybe I'm getting a LITTLE ahead of myself.
